ecadlib can now install one component library into every KiCad project on a workstation. The command adds the library's symbols and printed circuit board (PCB) footprints to each detected KiCad 7 or newer installation, then sets a shared path so three-dimensional models appear without project-specific setup.
Global library edits are risky because KiCad keeps separate tables and settings for each major version. ecadlib matches existing rows even when users format them differently, avoids duplicate names, and backs up the files before changing them. If a library table is missing, it starts from KiCad's own template rather than creating a one-row table that would hide the standard libraries. Uninstall reverses the changes, and KiCad 7 receives symbols converted to the older format it understands.
The project tested the installed library in real copies of KiCad 9.0.9 and 10.0.8, including footprints and models. That doesn't prove it is safe against every hand-edited configuration, but it turns library setup into a command that can be reviewed and repeated. A hardware team can now put that command beside its development setup scripts and test a new library release on one machine before rolling it out to everyone.
