NVIDIA announced at DAC 2026 (July 26) that PhysicsNeMo and CUDA-X libraries are now packaged as agent-ready skills inside the NVIDIA Agent Toolkit for engineering. Cadence, Siemens, and Synopsys are named in the release as partners already using the stack. Separately, NVIDIA Research published ACE-RTL, an agent built on Nemotron 3 Ultra that leads open models on agentic RTL coding and chip verification. The two announcements together mark NVIDIA's clearest move yet from GPU provider to AI engineer author: instead of selling compute for someone else's agent, NVIDIA is now shipping the agent.

The PhysicsNeMo piece is the less-covered half of the announcement and the more structurally significant one. Physics simulation (thermal, electromagnetic, structural, fluid) has been a coordination bottleneck in chip design for years: the simulation lives in a separate tool, run by a specialist, on a schedule. Packaging it as an agent skill means an AI engineer can invoke a thermal model mid-design-loop without a handoff. CUDA-X libraries cover the compute acceleration layer. Together they give an autonomous AI engineer what a human engineer needs to close the physics gap between block-level RTL and system-level physical constraints, without a weekly meeting with the simulation team.

The EDA incumbents partnering here are buying time and distribution, not safety. If NVIDIA's agent toolkit becomes the coordination layer for chip design workflows, the incumbents' value is their tool surface exposed as agent APIs, not their design environments. Teams that run their entire EDA flow inside NVIDIA's orchestration framework will care less about EDA vendor branding and more about which tools have the best API coverage. That is a pricing model rewrite for every EDA company in the partner slide deck.
